Do You Know So?
I John 5:11-13
“These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life…”
THE CERTAINTY OF SALVATION. 13 “…that you may know that you have eternal life…”
Salvation is not just believing in God.
1:6 “If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness we lie and do not practice the truth.”
2:4 “He who says I know Him & does not keep His commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him.”
2:6 “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”
2:9 “He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in darkness until now.”
Salvation is not just saying a sinner’s prayer.
Salvation is not remembering a time or a place.
Charles Spurgeon said “Man can know he is alive, even if he can’t remember his birthday.”
Salvation is not a feeling.
Salvation is not church attendance or being good or being baptized.
Salvation IS turning from our sin (repentance) & trusting in Christ (faith)
Doubt Deceives Us.
D.L. Moody said “I have never known a Christian who was any good in the work of Christ who did not have assurance of salvation.”
Doubt Silences Us.
Doubt Paralyzes Us.
THE CLARITY OF SCRIPTURE. “These things I have written to you…that you may know”
We don’t have a “feel so salvation.”
We don’t have a “hope so salvation.”
We don’t have a “think so salvation.”
We have a “know so salvation.”
John 5:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life and shall not come into judgment but has passed from death into life.”
John Rice said “don’t every put a question mark where God has put a period.”
THE CENTRALITY OF THE SAVIOR. 12 “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” Do you have life; abundant life and eternal life?
Billy Graham said, “No man can be said to be truly converted to Christ who has not bent his will to Christ. He may give intellectual assent to the claims of Christ and may have had emotional religious experiences, however he is not truly converted until he has surrendered his will to Christ as Lord, Savior and Master.”
When Jesus Died He Paid For Our Sins.
“All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned everyone to our own way.” Isa. 53:6 “There is none righteous, no not one” Rom. 3:10
When Jesus Was Buried He Put Away Our Sin.
When Jesus Arose He Prevailed Over the Power Of Sin.
